GRAY AREA: WOLVES OF THE SOUTHWEST (USA 2017)

IT’S THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST. A UNIQUE SPECIES OF WOLF, UNLIKE ANY OTHER, IS MAKING A COMEBACK. LITTLE KNOWN, THE MEXICAN GRAY WOLF HAS SLOWLY BOUNCED BACK FROM THE VERY BRINK OF EXTINCTION—ONLY TO FACE EXTINCTION YET AGAIN, FROM WITHIN: IT’S GENETICS.   IN A DARING NEW OPERATION, ONE LONE WOLF PAVES THE WAY FORWARD FOR A SECOND CHANCE AT THE SURVIVAL OF THE SPECIES, RAISING AN OLD QUESTION ANEW: CAN MAN AND WOLF LEARN TO LIVE ALONGSIDE EACH OTHER— OR WILL WE, YET AGAIN, DRIVE “EL LOBO” TO EXTINCTION?

WITH ITS MYSTERIOUS ROCK FORMATIONS AND ICONIC TREES, JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK PROVIDES A HAVEN FOR THOSE SEEKING INSPIRATION. PURSUIT OF BEAUTY (USA 2016)

PURSUIT OF BEAUTY TAKES AN INTIMATE LOOK AT HOW ONE LOCAL ARTIST IS HARNESSING INSPIRATION FROM COLORADO’S 14,000 FOOT PEAKS. BY PAINTING THE VIEW FROM THE SUMMIT OF EACH OF THE 58 COLORADO MOUNTAINS, LISA MARTIN CELEBRATES THE LIFE OF A TRUE COLORADAN. SHE IS NOT ESCAPING THE DYSTOPIA BUT QUITE LITERALLY CHANGING THE VANTAGE POINT FROM WHICH SHE LOOKS AT THE WORLD. LIVING OUT OF HER TRUCK, CARRYING HER ART SUPPLIES AND GEAR FROM SUMMIT TO SUMMIT LISA IS CAPTURING THE OUTDOORS IN A TRULY UNIQUE WAY, AND CHALLENGING US ALL TO CHANGE OUR PERSPECTIVE.
